Shades of Yellow

May 7, 2012

Just look at that glorious yarn that found its way to my basket.  Beautiful shades of yellow.  I could just eat it, add a little whipped cream and mmm mmm mmmmm……delicious!

Kristín hand dyed this beautiful létt-lopi/lopi light using rhubarb.  I love how it turned out in different shades of rich yellow colors, I cannot wait to dig in and eat knit it up.  The ideas are swarming around…..

And talking about ideas.  I have a thing for note books (and paper in general):

I fell head over heals for these two and  gave into temptation…..say no more……

Beautiful. I need inspiration for something easy to make that’s not a scarf or TV socks! I’m currently trying a hat but not finding it much fun. If you have any ideas let me know. 🙂

There are so many pretty patterns out there! Have you tried lace yet?

I haven’t tried lace. It seems a bit delicate for my clumsy fingers! I know you don’t get any better if you try new things. I still wish we had a local knitting class I could go to.

Lace doesn’t have to be that delicate, you can use bulkier yarn, it doesn’t have to be lace weight. I you are bored with just plain old stocking stitch then maybe you are ready to try something new? Doesn’t even have to be lace, could be something that has some fun shaping in it.
I have 2 patterns that would work great for someone who wants to move from scarfs into something a bit more challanging. There is love-link, a mitten for two (could make a cute present). It is a quick knit, not complicated at all, you get to work with yarn overs and knitting 2 sts together. Then there is Fönn, a shawl with mostly stocking stitch but has a lace border as well. Again, nothing too complicated.

A knitting class would be great, but there is so much information on the internet, you can find videos on youtube of just about everything. And then you can always send me a line and I will do what I can to help out:)

I know, it’s so delicious looking! I’m not sure yet what I’m going to use it for. The ideas keep coming, have to let them swarm around a bit and then it will come to me:)
